“We’ll Always Have Paris”, an Amber scenario

Note: breaking normal format here because it’s a con game.

Game summary: Corwin has returned to his Pattern. Merlin has followed him, taking Coral, bearing the Jewel, with him… A group from Amber must attempt to retrieve the Jewel before it is too late.

Player comment: Corwin’s mind is a scary, scary place.

Quotes

“This is like herding ferrets…”

“You have a contingency note?”

“Caine, I grant you two more minutes to be smug with yourself…”

“Did we learn our lesson from last time?”

“I liked it better when you were dead.”

“Um, arguably he could have just had Coral’s head…”

“I will invite you to touch my Trump.”
*Bleys mimes throwing up*

“I was going to mock you for that, but you got there three seconds before me.”

“Would any of you mind if I brought up the Logrus?”
“YES.”

“Do I sense a tavern?”
“Yes, your drunk sense is tingling.”

“Yeah, but we don’t want to break Corwin again.”
“I’m slightly more concerned about myself than about Corwin right now.”

“I don’t know.”
“Can you say that again?”
“I don’t know.”
“Twice in one day…”

“Until we are certain you are welcome and expected guests.”
“What if we’re one of those things? Because I’m sure we’re going to be one of those, but I’m not sure which.”

“That was a random question.”
“Yes, that was a Random question.  Thank you for that Julian comment.”
“He can mark it on his Julian calendar.”

“Let’s not be super-blatant.”
“Too late for that now.”

“I think we’ve established that he’s not here.”
“Have we?”
“We have not, but one thing at a time.”

“Hang on. You want the king, named Corwin, who has a dead son named Merlin, to announce to the kingdom that Merlin is alive and well?”

“I wasn’t trying to insult him. It just happens naturally.”

“Iron Chef: Amber!”

“What are you making?”
“Food.”

“Can you draw trumps?”
“Yes.”
“Have you tried?”
“No.”
“Can you?”
“No.”

“Nothing here has been un-Corwin-like yet.”

“The other chef pulls [the lid] away, and…”
“It’s the head of Oberon!”
“Don’t be silly. It’s the head of Eric.”

“Flattery – we haven’t tried that one yet…”

“Oooh, neat, someone taught you a power word: self control… Self control…”
“It’s his one defining characteristic…”

“They’re exactly as good as Corwin thinks he is.”

“Sorry, Merlin, you only get a trilogy.”
